Covid-19 – Training Safely

These guidelines have been designed to enable us to deliver safe, socially distanced first aid courses whilst ensuring that learners continue to receive the highest quality training and to allow them to complete the necessary practical assessments required for certification.

What you need to bring to the course

Please bring a face covering, a pen and paper and, if possible,  a small bottle of hand sanitiser for personal use (don’t worry if you don’t have this as we will provide it for you).

Please also bring any soft drinks, snacks you may want during the day.

Class Induction Process

When you arrive for your training, we will ask you to complete a short health questionnaire. We need to know if:

  • you have been self-isolating in the last 14 days due to covid-19 symptoms
  • you have been living in a household with someone who is self-isolating due to covid-19 symptoms in the last 14 days
  • you have been in close contact (within approximately 2 metres of a person with COVID-19 for a period of more than 15 minutes) in the last 14 days
  • you have a new and persistent cough
  • you have had a fever in the last 24 hours
  • you have lost your sense of taste or smell

If you have answered “yes” to any of the questions you will not be able to attend the course. We will be happy to book you onto a course at a later date.

We will ask you to disinfect your hands with warm water and soap or hand sanitiser before entering the training room.

Training Room Set-up

Chairs will be placed  2 metres apart and each learner will have a designated chair for the day

During the course, you will be asked to maintain a distance of 2 metres between yourself, the other attendees and the trainer whenever possible.

During the assessment of certain elements of the course, when this distancing is not possible for a short time, you will be asked to use a disposable face mask/face covering and disposable gloves.

These are provided by the trainer and the trainer will instruct you on their use.

Trainer Guidance

We are working hard to keep everyone safe and sound and we kindly ask you to follow all the infection control guidance given by the trainer, for example hand-washing, maintaining distance, using PPE. If you are unable to comply with our infection control measures we reserve the right to ask you to leave the course in order to protect our staff and learners.

We really look forward to seeing you and will do everything we can to make sure your course is an enjoyable and informative experience!
