First Aid Training for Child Minders – what you need to know

“So pleased that I can now attend a 1 Day  first aid course and do some eLearning at home in my own time,” was the comment from a recent child minder on our Safe and Sound  Paediatric First Aid Course.  She had found it particularly difficult taking 2 days out of work to attend a first aid training course as she looked after 5 children during the week and at the weekends had 3 of her own older children to look after.  She was a single mother so it was difficult for her to find child care at the weekends.  “What’s more,” she added, “the eLearning was great. I felt really well prepared when I arrived for the practical side of the training course.”

I was particularly chuffed with her comments as it is exactly what we had in mind when we designed the eLearning course to accompany the face to face training day.  I asked the childminder what in particular she liked about the eLearning module in comparison with the 2 day face to face training she had previously attended besides, of course, the time element.

“Because it was interactive I felt I digested the information much better. I also enjoyed the videos and the Q & A. Sometimes listening to someone talk about Sickle Cell or what to put into a first aid kit can be quite boring but when you are reading it and partaking in an activity it brings it much more to life. And also I didn’t have to do it all at once. In fact I went in about 3 times before I finished it”

 So how does it work?

It is simple. When you book on to a Safe and Sound Paediatric First Aid Course we send you a confirmation with details of where the training will take place and an eLearning link.  You click on the link, register and then start your eLearning.

We recommend that you complete the eLearning before you attend the day of training however should this not be possible it can be completed afterwards. Please note though you will not be issued with a certificate until you have also passed the eLearning module.

The face to face training takes place  on Saturday’s at our central London venue The Learning Tree which is next to Euston Station  in London (NW1 1AD).  Free hot and cold refreshments are available throughout the day.

The course is suitable for Ofsted registration for both Child Minders and Early Years Staff and the First Aid certificate is valid for 3 years.

All learners will receive a comprehensive paediatric first aid manual.

The cost of this course is £95 inc VAT.  You can book on line at: http://www.safeandsound.uk.net/product/blended-paediatric-first-aid/
